Oleg Vorslav - OUT OF TIME

Out of Time feels less like a parkour video and more like a document of a movement language still being invented.

Released in 2009 and filmed around Daugavpils, the 14-minute piece follows Oleg Vorslav through playgrounds, railings and concrete with an almost restless curiosity. The appeal is not just in the scale of the movement, but in its unpredictability: long swings, awkward transitions, improvised routes and choices that often seem to emerge in the moment rather than from a familiar catalogue of tricks.

There is a looseness to the film that is difficult to recreate now. It comes from a period before parkour had been fully packaged into competitions, facilities and repeatable visual formulas, and that freedom gives Out of Time much of its character.

Its influence has lasted well beyond its original upload. More than fifteen years later, athletes still return to it, reference it and, in some cases, search for it from memory.

That longevity is probably the clearest review the film could receive.
